One D&D
Based on the launch video, One D&D (slated for a 2024 release) appears to include the following changes:
ruleset updates
digital/physical bundles on DNDBeyond
Unreal engine VTT and digital minis
A quote from the video about editions says:
"we are no longer in the position where we think of D&D as an edition it's 'just' D&D"
as if there won’t be a concept of editions. Of course this sounds like product launch marketingspeak. Practically-speaking, I would have to imagine the new “edition”/version, etc. will be “One D&D” to start, but that with a digital platform, a publisher like Wizards of the Coast feels like they can say they will just push out new changes without republishing updated books regularly, and books are what requires new editions. Of course, as soon as there are updates, DMs and players will need to adjust, so this may be a matter of semantics.
Preliminary playtest materials available on DNDBeyond (The Character Origins PDF) appear to have the following changes from 5e.
First-level feats — perhaps this is related to the idea that first-level characters are often seen as underpowered in D&D
